Code of Conduct
Etiquette Guide
1. Arrive 10 minutes before your class begins. Punctuality is an important part of our practice.
2. Please remove your shoes before entering the Dojo, and place them inside the allocated shoe area.
3. Remove all jewelry and all accessories including watches as they pose a potential danger to other participants and to yourself.
4. Mobile phones must be put in silent mode and left in safe place.
5. Once class has started silently bow to the main area before entering, as it represents a greeting to the dojo and to the old masters.
6. Once class is over, please put all equipment and props back in their place. The studio should be left clean and ready for the next class. This is known as Souji (Sōji) and is an extension of the teaching of respect, humbleness and mindfulness, this is done by everyone regardless rank by cleaning what has been used.

Dōjō 道場 means "the place of the way", the way of life, as in martial arts connects mind with body in the way of life, it used to be a hall for meditation and a special place this is the reason why shoes aren't worn during practice, in this place before and after training a ceremony takes place, this is to greet the students and the grand masters. Shoo Rei Kai was founded in 1977 in Mexicali BC, Mexico by Shihan Sergio Cortes, On the year 2000, inspired by a phrase "A Black Belt Trains Alone", our Sensei Jose Luis Montes began a small group in a community church to members and families from all ages, regardless of race, belief, sex or age, we have been offering the Lake Zurich and Mundelein area great quality. Following the Champions Schools principle, encouraging students to never give up. We strive to take martial arts back to its roots as both a physical and spiritual art form that represents a harmonious way of life. In a world of seemingly unending pressures, we represent an oasis of calm and balance.
Martial arts give you the tools to stay present and focused while standing in the eye of the storm. It is this self-awareness that allows you to make the best decisions in stressful situations, and to defend yourself when needed, “The best way to win a battle is the one you don't have to fight”.
